FROM WALL TO WOW

We’re gaga for a great wall treatment. Beautiful millwork certainly falls in that category, but lately, we’re also getting the feels for shiplap and statement wallpaper. We’re even taking a second look at brick. And every time we see a technique get the fashion treatment, interpreted in different ways throughout the house, our design junkie hearts just beat a little faster. To bring you the latest in wow walls, we rounded up photos from every space in the house. Proof positive that these days, it’s hip to be a wallflower.

#1 BEDROOM BEAUTY

Viridian Residence One: Master Bedroom

Texture, pattern and color take bed walls from meh to mesmerizing. Like in this master bedroom at Viridian Residence 1, where painting millwork a deep jewel tone makes its sculptural lines pop.

Viridian Residence Two: Master Bedroom

In Viridian Residence 2, it’s graphic wallpaper that dials up the drama. The oversized black-and-white botanical print accomplishes the impossible, managing to be both neutral and statement-making at the same time.

Viridian Residence Two: Bedroom Two

And down the hall at Residence 2, rustic shiplap paneling gives a little girl’s room dreamy dimension and a sense of timelessness. The look will grow with her, adaptable to a range of changing style personas, from boho to maximalist to minimalist.

#2  BRICK HOUSE

Terrassa Villas Residence Three: Loft

We’re loving how brick-look tile puts an urban signature on interior spaces. Check out that family loft in Terrassa Villas Residence 3. Those warm walls feel downtown cool, like the space was lifted from a Greenwich Village apartment.

Talus Residence Two: Loft

But at Talus Residence 2, whitewashed brick reads uptown contemporary, proving brick’s a style chameleon.

Paloma Residence One: Kitchen

Further evidence? It’s the unifying design theme in this kitchen and dining space at Paloma Residence 1, wrapping the great room walls then repeating as a backsplash. Textural and versatile, think of brick as an unexpected design workhorse.

#3 STARE-WORTHY STAIR WALLS

Viridian Residence One: Stairway

Too often overlooked, open stairwells are prime real estate for eye-catching wall treatments. Like at Viridian Residence 1. Every time you descend that sculptural staircase you’ll love that whitewashed brick wall a little more. It’s a brilliant focal point for displaying art, but artful on its own as well—textural, strong and intriguing.

Lucera Residence Three: Landing

At Lucera Residence 3, the golden-toned stairwell wall seems to shimmer, drawing your up eye up, up, up and emphasizing striking pendant lighting and the ceiling’s dramatic lines. The pixelated mosaic-effect comes courtesy of square wood-look tiles.

#4 ON REPEAT

Talus Residence Three: Great Room

Fashion mavens know that subtly repeating an element—a color, a pattern, or texture—elevates their entire look. It’s all about cohesion. And design mavens know the same principle works on the home front as well. Case in point? Talus Residence 3, where weathered wood shiplap anchors the great room wall …

Talus Residence Three: Den

… reappears on the den ceiling …

Talus Residence Three: Master Bedroom

… then makes a final head-turning appearance behind the bed in the master suite. The message? Design reigns in this household, where rooms have individual personality yet speak with one stylish voice.
