Southern California is known for its award-winning wines – and great microbrews. Many of the best brew pubs are just minutes from Atwell. Here are a few to explore this summer.

Hangar 24 Brewing

This craft brewer combines a shout-out to aviation with microbrews made from water sourced from the San Bernardino Mountains. Taste test one of their many IPAs and lagers on tap, while enjoying Taco Tuesdays. Or, show off your musical talents during open mic nights every Wednesday. The Redlands location is just 22 miles northwest of Banning.

Brewcaipa Brewing Company

Brewmaster Scott Daniels caught the beer-making bug when he received a home brewing kit as a gift. Today, Brewcaipa is a fixture in historic uptown Yucaipa, about 15 miles from Atwell. Not in the mood for alcohol? Try a non-alcoholic orange cream soda or Cole’s fantastic root beer, alongside a wood-fired pizza, burger or barbecue during one of their many special events. Check the calendar for live music, line dancing and more.

Trail Too

Head southwest from Atwell about 20 miles to Hemet, where the laid-back vibe of Trail Too beckons. Grab a brew and enjoy a game of pool for just a $1 a game, or make a Sunday outing and play for free. Trail Too hosts billiard tournaments Thursdays at 6 p.m.

Laws Cider Mill

Round up the family and some Atwell friends and head to this iconic Oak Glen spot, where the fun is about a lot more than just great beer. Try their apple cider made from home-grown apples, take home a jar of honey or stop next door for lunch at the family-owned restaurant. Open daily, Laws is about a 16-mile drive north from Banning.

Hops and Spokes

This cycling-themed home-bar was the brainchild of avid cyclist Adam Tissot, whose blackberry wheat recipe propelled him to pursue his dream. Located in downtown Yucaipa at the gateway of numerous biking routes, Hops and Spokes’ outdoor patio is a great spot to cool down after a ride, or chill out after a quick 15-mile drive from Atwell.

Ritual Brewing Company

Another microbrewery with a sports shout-out is Redland’s Ritual Brewing Company, about 22 miles from Banning. Its founders transformed circa 1960s vintage bowling lanes into this popular laid-back gathering place for enjoying award-winning brews with friends. You can even practice your Sun Salutations at the Ritual’s Yoga and Beer sessions every Sunday at 11 a.m.

More Redlands Stops.

Redlands is becoming quite the craft beer destination. If you are looking for other must-explore Redlands venues, check out the two locations of Escape Craft Brewery as well as the Brew and Chew. Both are dog-friendly, offer 20-plus craft beer selections and concoct creative food options perfect for pairing with a growler.
