At one time or another what homeowner hasn’t said – “we have got to get this garage organized.” Sure you start out with the best of intentions, but over time, you’re stepping between bicycles and sports equipment just to get to your tools, or you’re moving multiple containers only to find those precious holiday decorations weren’t where you swear you put them.

At Tri Pointe Homes®, we design garages with livability top-of-mind. And, with a bit of ingenuity, your garage could be far more than a place just to park your car. An organized garage could become a dream workshop for hobbies and a great place for storing tools, sports equipment, holiday decorations, bicycles, household items, and more!

In Las Vegas, each of Tri Pointe’s 14 communities feature two-to-three bay garages with plenty of space for not only cars, but storage, hobbies and more!

Every Tri Pointe garage is drywalled, textured and painted. In addition, all garages are pre-wired for electric vehicles, feature WiFi garage door openers and LED flush mount lighting.

Plus, while you’re working with your Design Studio Consultant to create your dream home, don’t overlook the garage. Be sure to ask about adding epoxy flooring in gray or tan or additional LED lighting. If you’re building from the ground up, you could also add a few extra garage electrical outlets and insulation for additional climate control and energy efficiency.

To make the most of it, here are a few DIY tips for keeping your garage organized and clutter-free.

Make the Most of Vertical Space with Wall Shelves: To make use of wall space while opening up floor space, consider opting for a wall-mounted shelving system. This also allows you to take the shelving up as high as possible. At the very top, store items that are rarely used like holiday decorations, leaving the lower shelves for easy access to items you want at your fingertips such as paper items and cleaning products.

Rolling Storage Shelves: These double-sided rollout shelves allow easy access to everything that can be stored in a narrow space like paint cans, nails, and screws. When the shelves are pulled out, everything is in full view and easily accessible.

Clutter-Hiding Cabinets are One of The Best Ways to Organize Your Garage:No matter the size of your garage, clutter-hiding cabinets are a keystone of organization. When positioned around a garage workspace, your tools and supplies are within reach, making projects more enjoyable and efficient while also keeping the “mess” out of sight.

Create Space for Sports Gear

If hockey sticks, basketballs, soccer balls and baseball bats take up a lot of room in your garage, consider using a slat wall storage system. Its versatility enables you to hang vertical racks, nets, or baskets for all sorts of gear.

Move Bikes Overhead

Bikes can quickly clutter a space. Creating a streamlined system to store bikes in your garage will not only make it look neater, it will keep your bikes from getting damaged and help you access them faster. One of the best ways to store bikes is to use an overhead storage rack. Or, you can install rubber-coated hooks from the ceiling. You can also think vertically and mount multiple bikes on the wall.

The garage is one of the most versatile and hardest working spaces in your home – so why not personalize it to match your dreams and lifestyle? A well-organized garage allows you to live with ease and convenience, so it’s life changing!
