How Matt and Melissa Found Harmony at Emberly
Matt and Melissa's story started with shutters.
Melissa had purchased a Tri Pointe Homes® home and needed window coverings. A friend recommended Matt, who stopped by to take measurements and walk through options. What began as a routine appointment quickly became something neither of them expected.
"We kept it classy and professional in the beginning," Matt laughed. "But there was a spark. Something was there."
Months later, one conversation turned into a drink. A drink became a relationship. And before long, two Tri Pointe homeowners found themselves searching for a place they could finally call home together.
Melissa had already built a life at Waterston North in Gilbert. Matt had done the same at Marathon Ranch. Their separate experiences with Tri Pointe had given them confidence in the builder, but choosing the right home for this next chapter was about much more than finding the right floorplan.
For nearly two years, they explored communities across the Valley, comparing every possibility they could find.
"We really exhausted the Valley trying to find the right situation for us," Matt remembered.
Then, while vacationing in San Diego, they discovered Emberly.
"We looked and said, 'Wow, we actually like all of these,'" Matt said.
"Yeah, it checked almost all of the boxes right off the bat," Melissa agreed.

As they learned more about the community and walked through the Calida floorplan, something shifted. Instead of imagining where furniture might go, they found themselves imagining life. Family dinners with the kids gathered around the kitchen. Movie nights. Working from home without feeling disconnected from one another. Weekends that naturally flowed from inside to out. "The indoor-outdoor style brings everything together," Melissa said. For Matt, one moment sealed it. "The vaulted ceiling option in the primary suite was a showstopper." But what made Emberly feel different wasn't just the home. "It's the location, it's the view," Matt and Melissa said simultaneously.
"I really appreciate the beauty of the community," Melissa said. "The way the amenities are done and just how the community is in general."
Even before they received their keys, they were already putting down roots.
They met future neighbors, started a Facebook group, and began building relationships long before anyone had officially moved in.
"I've never met so many new neighbors without anyone moving in yet," Matt said.
For both of them, that sense of connection reflected what they had already come to appreciate about Tri Pointe. Having each built with the company before, they knew they could count on a team that communicated openly, followed through, and genuinely cared about the homeowner experience.
"I judge a company not by their great work, but what they do when there is an issue," Matt said.
Throughout their journey at Emberly, that trust continued to grow. From the sales team to construction, they felt supported every step of the way. They especially appreciated their superintendent, Jen, whose communication and attention to detail gave them confidence as their future home took shape.
As the framing went up, so did their excitement for everything that would happen within those walls.
Then, before the home was even complete, it became the setting for one of the most meaningful moments of their lives.

Standing inside the framed home where they would begin their next chapter, Matt asked Melissa to marry him.
The place where they had imagined building a life together became the place where they promised to.
Looking back, it's difficult to separate their love story from their Tri Pointe story. What began with a service appointment at one Tri Pointe home led them to another, and ultimately to the place where they chose to build their future together.
If Matt had to describe this season of life in one word, it would be "harmony."
"The community itself, the people so far, the house itself, and the building process itself...everything's kind of just coming together in perfect harmony," he said, as Melissa echoed the same sentiment.
Now, they're looking forward to the moments that haven't happened yet.

"As we move in together and start in this home and community, I'm excited about meeting new neighbors, and establishing a good community around us," Melissa said. "We'll plant our feet and grow from there." For Matt and Melissa, Emberly is more than the next home they'll share. It's where two separate Tri Pointe journeys became one story, and where the foundation of a home became the foundation for a lifetime together. Ready to begin your own Tri Pointe story?
