The Tri Pointe Homes® Bay Area division rolled up their sleeves and got to work at The Grove Community Garden, located within the stunning One Lake community in Fairfield, during a recent volunteer event. One Lake is a thoughtfully designed planned community featuring several Tri Pointe Homes neighborhoods and a wide range of amenities, including The Grove, a thriving community garden where residents can enjoy freshly grown fruits, vegetables, and cut flowers. The garden is lovingly maintained by two expert gardeners and supported by dedicated volunteers.

Tri Pointe Homes is proud to offer employees volunteer hours each year, and what better way to use them than by making a positive impact right in their own backyard? The Bay Area team came together to volunteer their time to this special space and support the homeowners who benefit from it.

Prepping Beds for Next Harvest

They kicked off their volunteer day by preparing the garden beds for the upcoming summer crops. Team members removed a thick blanket of weeds and carefully aerated the soil to give the new plants a healthy start. Once the crops mature, residents of One Lake will be able to enjoy fresh, homegrown produce, just one of the many benefits of living in this vibrant community.

Planting Milkweed to Host Butterflies

The team then focused on planting milkweed all around the garden to support monarch butterfly conservation. As the sole host plant for monarch caterpillars, milkweed plays a crucial role in the species’ survival. It also serves as a vital nectar source for a variety of pollinators, making it an important contributor to the overall health of the ecosystem at The Grove. After plenty of digging, watering, and teamwork, they successfully planted around 50 milkweed plants, a small but meaningful step toward nurturing local biodiversity.
