As a leader in green building for more than 20 years, Tri Pointe Homes® recognizes that Earth Day is more than a single day on the calendar. As part of our commitment to building homes that are Life-changing by Design™, we are thoughtful in our approach to selecting environmentally-friendly materials and incorporating energy-saving and smart technology features that homeowners want most, and which can help you conserve energy, money, and the planet. We recently polled Tri Pointe home shoppers to see which features of our LivingSmart® program were most important to them.

Saving money with the coolest Earth-friendly features

As part of our EnergySmart® and EarthSmart® programs, we incorporate features like energy efficient HVAC systems, smart Wi-Fi thermostats, LED lighting, and Low-E glass windows into every home. Not only do these features help improve indoor air quality and comfort, they can also help save up to 20% off energy bills. [1] Low-E glass windows reduce heating and cooling costs by an average of 12%[2] when compared to older windows.  Optional features such as high-efficiency tankless water heaters and solar panels can also help reduce your use of energy and help your energy bills.

Eco-friendly whole house systems

Our dedication to incorporating energy efficiency and environmentally friendly features begins from the ground up. Our building materials include engineered wood products to help preserve old growth forests. As part of our HealthSmart® program, we use formaldehyde-free insulation and low or no VOC adhesives, paints, sealants, and carpets to help improve air quality throughout the home. MERV 8 or higher air filters and water filtration systems also help reduce contaminants.

Room-by-room Earth-friendly features

We also carefully consider which energy saving and Earth-friendly features should be included in each room. In the kitchen, we found that homebuyers are looking for energy-efficient appliances, high-tech touch faucets, and built-in recycling centers. In the bathroom, WaterSense® certified faucets and fixtures, along with dual-flush toilets, can save gallons of water a day—which will help save money and the Earth's natural resources now and for generations to come. For electric car enthusiasts, some of our homes offer an optional 220V charge station in the garage. The smart irrigation systems included in the WaterSmart® program help homeowners conserve water, and reduce water bills, with an automated schedule.

Great Results

Tri Pointe homes are built differently to help you live differently. We work hard to find the most Earth-friendly products to help improve the efficiency and comfort of our homes. Although many of these components go unnoticed in your day-to-day living, everything from the whole house HVAC system to the electrical outlets in the bathroom have been designed to help simplify your life, save money, and reduce our impact on the environment.
