From Farmer’s Markets to Halfpipes and Dinosaur Bones - There is Virtually Something for Everyone

When fresh produce is on your grocery list head on over to the sprawling Skye Canyon Park for the weekly Farmer’s Market every Thursday from 2 – 6 p.m. The 15-acre park also features large green spaces and grass soccer fields, basketball courts and a kids play area including splash pad.

The anticipated 40-acre Tule Springs Regional Park will be one of the city’s largest parks featuring ball fields, playgrounds, basketball courts, sand volleyball courts, walking trails and shade structures. Additional athletic fields and amenities are expected to be added over the next few years as the park continues to develop.

Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs has 680 acres filled with wildlife, lush vegetation, lakes and views of the Sheep and Spring Mountain Ranges. You can spend a couple of hours or an entire day enjoying the park’s walking paths, fishing ponds, horse trails, mountain bike trails and volleyball court.

Lone Mountain Discovery Park is a cool place for kids to get exercise and learn while exploring math problems, science, geography, spelling, the alphabet and other hands-on activities. Follow the pathways outside the playground to find tennis courts, basketball courts, and hike up the hillside of breathtaking Lone Mountain. There’s even a pathway with equestrian spaces for horses.

Aliante Nature Discovery Park, which the locals refer to as "dinosaur park" because of the huge dinosaur in the middle of it, includes a sand pit for digging dinosaur bones. And Mountain Ridge Park is home to one of the area’s most popular skate parks.

For a fun outing come autumn, visit Gilcrease Orchard to explore the giant pumpkin patch while grabbing a jug of fresh apple cider to wash down caramel apples. Or, The Las Vegas Farm for getting up close and personal with many different animals, including chickens, peacocks, ducks, geese, turkeys, goats, pigs, horses, cows, mules, llamas, rabbits, cats, tortoises and more. The Farm is partnered with Barn Buddies Rescue, a non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue of abused, neglected or abandoned farm animals.
